Who Are We?
We are three long-time friends, going all the way back to our elementary and middle school days. We started the podcast in March of 2020, shortly before the pandemic hit the US, and the shutdown was ordered. Mike Witmer and Jeff Quake, had already hosted their own podcast, the Witmer&Quake Podcast, they decided one day to bring Brian Appleby on, just to come and hang out, trying a different format. One they were calling a roundtable discussion with friends. From that moment, the Underachievers Podcast, was born as the three enjoyed the vibes that came from it. Meeting weekly since mid-March of 2020.
Who We Are?
Mike Witmer
One of three hosts of the show, and producer. The initial idea of podcasting came from him, in 2018, after finishing his last semester at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. First, starting off as a hobby where he could talk hockey, with his brother Mitch and good friend Jeff Quake. Since then, he has been at the forefront of everything Witmer&Quake and Underachievers Podcasts. Becoming the main host, recording and editing every episode and video that gets posted. He also came up with their “Timeless Debates” “Unofficial/Official Critiques” and “Story Time” segments.
Jeff Quake
The longtime co-host of the Witmer&Quake Podcast, was part of the test-run shows back in March of 2018. After years of talking hockey, the two set out on trying to expand their podcasts. This allowed for the Underachievers Podcast to come about. After the first few months of the show not having a title, Jeff came up with the name that stuck, as the “Underachievers Podcast”. He also helped name the first segment names of, “Jeff’s News Away From Narnia”, “Witmer’s Updates”, “Drinking with Bapps” and “Random Tangents.”
Brian Appleby
The third member of the Underachievers, he first came on in March of 2020, one of two podcast the three did in person. At the time, the show was still under the Witmer&Quake Podcast. He was also the initial social media manager, posting many of the initial episodes and videos on Instagram. Since then, Brian has been a mainstay on the podcast, coming in with many stories from his days out with friends. He has also been instrumental in coming up with their “Questions of the Hour” and “Food for Thought” segments.
